Celebrating National Day with Seafarers at MTSS Drop-in Centres

Singapore’s National Day celebration was extended far and wide, reaching seafarers at the Mission to Seafarers Singapore (MTSS) International Drop-in Centre of Jurong Port and Pasir Panjang Port.

Held on 7 and 20 August, respectively, the parties had almost 100 seafarers turn up to celebrate Singapore’s 54th birthday. The seafarers received a complimentary prepaid SIM card each, courtesy of StarHub. For dinner, a spread of Singapore fare awaited them.

Mr Dominic Yong, Chairman of Young SMOU, and the SMOU team spared no effort to be a good host. They doubled up as ambassadors, sharing with seafarers (from Egypt, France, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines) everything they had wanted to know about Singapore.

The SMOU team also made their way up a ship to deliver dinner to crew members who had missed the party due to work. This is the SMOU way: Caring and sharing all the way.
