SMOU celebrated the Lunar New Year with a spirited day on the greens, bringing together 44 golfers at Keppel Club for the annual LNY Golf League.
The afternoon began with lunch at the Belayer Room, where members reconnected before heading out for a lively round of golf. Friendly rivalry filled the fairways as golfers competed not only for tournament honours, but also for novelty prizes — ‘Nearest to Pin’ at Holes 3 and 13, and ‘Nearest to Line’ at Hole 8.
While scores mattered, the true highlight was the camaraderie. Between drives and putts, members exchanged stories, laughter, and well wishes, embodying the strong fellowship that defines SMOU.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the festivities shifted indoors. The much-anticipated Lo Hei brought everyone together in a jubilant toss of yusheng, symbolising prosperity and abundance. In keeping with the Year of the Horse, the festive greeting “Wishing you swift success, like a galloping horse” (mǎ dào chéng gōng), echoed around the room.
The evening continued with the presentation of tournament and novelty prizes by SMOU Assistant Treasurer, Brother Tan Geh Ting, followed by a thrilling lucky draw. SMOU Treasurer, Brother Yong Soon Huat, presented prizes to the top three lucky draw winners, capping off a memorable celebration.
With competitive spirit, warm fellowship, and festive cheer in full swing, the 2026 SMOU LNY Golf League once again proved to be a winning tradition for members both on and off the course.
