On 3 February, SMOU and Wavelink welcomed 100 senior residents of Jalan Besar at Lighthouse Bistro, to celebrate Lunar New Year.
Every year, SMOU organises the get-together for the senior residents of Jalan Besar to show appreciation and to share the festive joy together with its members and the community.
“Thank you for blessing the Jalan Besar Community for so many years, especially for our senior residents.” These words were expressed by Guest-of-Honour, Ms Denise Phua, Mayor for Central Singapore District. Ms Phua highlighted the union’s core value of caring and sharing and gave SMOU a pat on the back for the good work of helping the community and organising the festive get-together.
Besides a sumptuous dinner and auspicious lo hei, the seniors also received hong baos and food-aid bags containing basic necessities presented by Ms Phua and SMOU officials. During the dinner, guests were treated to an entertainment over games and sing alongs.
