SMOU is extending the subsidy for Seafarers’ Accommodation Scheme (SAS), which is in its third year running, to all Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) companies from 1 January 2020 to 31 March 2021.

Since 2016, the $300,000 scheme initiated by SMOU has provided more than 6,000 subsidised hotel rooms to officers from CBA companies. This financial relief ensures that the welfare of seafaring officers who have to stay in Singapore for training or when they sign on, or off a ship, are well taken care of.

Valued at S$50 each, the subsidy is in the form of SAS voucher codes to be used for offsetting of accommodation costs at any of the approved accommodation service providers:
