Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) Workshop

As SMOU prepares for its ageing membership, the union acknowledged that it would be useful to conduct a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) workshop. Having an LPA acts as an early preparation to protect the donor’s interest that may become vulnerable one day, and helps the Donee take better care of them.

On 26 October 2022, 23 SMOU members attended the workshop which was led by Mr Irfan from Gurbani & Co. During the workshop, participants learnt about LPA and how to plan for themselves. As an LPA allows you to appoint a trusted Donee to act on your behalf should one be unable to make decisions on their own, it gives you the power to decide who can make decisions for you while giving you the assurance that your wishes are aligned with that of the Donee’s.

After the workshop, the floor was opened for a Q&A segment and attendees took turns asking questions to better plan for themselves.

It was a fruitful session for the attendees as they were able to benefit from the expertise of Gurbani and Co and would be able to make better informed decisions in the future.
