If there’s one event that’s a hot favourite among SMOU members, it’s the SMOU Annual Bowling Challenge. Into its 16th run, SMOU Annual Bowling Challenge is a platform for members to network and build rapport, while showcasing the best of their bowling skills.
Over 108 SMOU members and their families, tripartite partners and guests from the maritime industry, gathered to give it their best “strike” at the Orchid Bowl @ Orchid Country Club on 19 August 2023.
The bowling tournament kick-started with a first roll by the Guest-of-Honour Mr Teo Eng Dih, Chief Executive, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The tournament commenced with each team, comprising of four players, pitting against each other to win the bowling challenge. SMOU members can seriously bowl!
The atmosphere at the bowling alley was simply exhilarating as players were seen cheering each other on. Between different teams, even though the goal is to win, but what’s more meaningful is the camaraderie built among the SMOU family.
While the game was still ongoing, a pre-draw lucky draw was conducted, where lucky winners were presented by Mr Teo, MPA Chief Executive and Mr Gwee Guo Duan, SMOU Assistant General Secretary.
At the close of the game, as scores were collated, every bowler waited in anticipation for the announcement of the winners. Individual tournament prizes were presented by Mr Dominic Yong, Young SMOU Chairman whilst Mr Rahim Jaffar, President of SMOU gave away the prizes to the winners of the team tournament.
At the close of the tournament, the top 5 lucky draw prizes were presented by Mr Rahim Jaffar.
It could be said that every player did not walk home emptyhanded. They all had with them at least a goodie bag and lucky draw gift. And a heart full of cherished moments and friendships made.
