Learning to Prepare a Ship for Bunkering & Knowing Singapore’s Bunkering Procedures

As one on the busiest ports in the world, Singapore is a choice destination for many vessels to take on bunkers especially with the strict regulations in place for safe and efficient bunkering operations.

As part of keeping Marine Engineers well-informed of the bunkering procedures in place, Wavelink Maritime Institute (WMI) introduced a new programme on 20 July 2022, which was attended by some 13 Marine Engineers.

WMI Director Mr Kenneth Kee

The Programme titled Ship Preparation & Singapore Bunkering Procedures was conceived to equip Marine Engineering Officers with the necessary knowledge for safe bunkering operations. The programme covers extensively the problems encountered during bunkering, the importance of sampling and use of the mass flow meters, understanding the Singapore Standards for Bunkering SS600 and SS648, as well as the handling of the bunkering documentation and disputes in Singapore.

WMI Lecturer Mr Muhammad Hisham Bin Amir
Industry Veteran Mr Lim Tau Kok

The programme was co-delivered by industry veteran Mr Lim Tau Kok and WMI Lecturer Mr Muhammad Hisham Bin Amir. Also attending as a Guest Panellist for the Question and Answer segment was Mr Kenneth Kee Ah Bah, who shared extensively from his operational and management experiences.
