The dialogue with FKSU leaders headed by President Park Seong Yong focused on dual fuel training, seafarers’ training programme and career paths for Koreans/foreigners. The unions also shared updates on maritime and seafarers’ issues from their respective fronts. While they were in Busan, SMOU officials had the opportunity to visit Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology (KIMFT), a maritime education and research institute operated by the government of South Korea. The visit to KIMFT explored possible collaborations in training.

The Singapore-Korea exchange served to foster deeper solidarity and strengthen bilateral ties between the seafarers’ unions of both nations and set the stage for future collaborations on seafarers’ training and development in the maritime industry.
