SMOU has always cared for the welfare of our members and families, even after they have passed on. Wavelink Maritime Institute (WMI) lecturer, Captain Mohd Razid Bin Mohd Azahari, passed at the age of 59, and was survived by his wife and 3 children. Captain Razid was no stranger to SMOU. He had a strong passion towards helping seafarers and members and has contributed greatly to the maritime industry over the years. From sailing as a Captain, to negotiating collective agreements with the union when he was working ashore, he always strove for a win-win situation between employer and employees. With his wealth of knowledge, he was able to impart techniques and teachings, and shared tips based on the experience he had as a seafarer to his students in WMI. SMOU General Secretary Ms Mary Liew presented the NTUC GIFT Insurance payout, care pack and fruit basket to his spouse, Mdm Roslinah Bte Juraimi and daughter Ms Farah Diyanah Bte Mohd Razid. Our hearts are with the family of the Late Captain Razid, our comrade and friend, always.
