Over 5,000 SMOU members, families, beneficiaries and maritime guests gathered together on 2 June 2026 for an exclusive SMOU Night Buy Out at Universal Studios Singapore.
Held as part of SMOU’s 75th Anniversary celebrations, the Family Day turned the theme park into a lively space filled with laughter, excitement and shared moments. From young children eager to meet their favourite characters to adults ready to relive their favourite movie scenes, there was something for everyone.
The event began at Hollywood Pantages Theatre where SMOU General Secretary Sister Mary Liew welcomed the crowd and thanked members for their continued support over the years.
The evening was made even more special with the presence of Guest-of-Honour Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations and SMOU Advisor. She congratulated SMOU on its 75th Anniversary and recognised the union’s ongoing support for maritime professionals and their families.
Cheers filled the theatre as Minister Grace Fu presented 10 lucky draw prizes to excited winners, setting the mood for the rest of the evening.
Laughter and excitement continued throughout the evening as members and their families explored the park together. Some chased thrilling adventures while others enjoyed the themed zones and attractions at a more relaxed pace. Every experience added to an evening of fun, shared moments and lasting memories.
Many members said they appreciated the opportunity to spend quality time with their families. As the evening came to a close, families left with smiles on their faces and memories to cherish.
More than just a night out, the SMOU Family Day was a celebration of togetherness that brought members, families and the maritime community closer as one.
