Scams are a growing global concern, and Singapore is no exception. To raise awareness and empower members with the tools to protect themselves, SMOU organised a Scam Prevention Talk on 25 July 2025. The session closed with nearly 30 members who were eager to learn about the latest scam tactics and how to stay safe online.
The session began with Glenn Cheah from the Singapore Police Force (SPF), who provided insights into the latest scam trends such as the rise in concert ticket scams. He highlighted how scammers exploit trust and create urgency to deceive victims.
Next, James Lok, a trainer from XIOHOO, walked attendees through common cybercrime tactics such as phishing, hacking, ransomware, social engineering, and malware. He also provided practical advice on protecting personal information online.
