Supporting Children’s Career Choice in Maritime

In the latest recruitment drive for the Tripartite Nautical Training Award (TNTA) programme, some 53 families and prospective candidates turned up for a Family Engagement session, held at Wavelink Maritime Institute (WMI) on 5 October 2018.

Candidates and their families heard from various practitioners in the maritime industry, as they provided insights on sea careers, the prospects of the maritime industry and career development opportunities at sea and ashore. A visit to WMI training facilities and an immersive experience into the training simulators just about sealed an approval from parents. The entire parent engagement exercise provided the needed assurance to parents that their children are pursuing a suitable and prospective career.
