It was an unforgettable evening at the much-awaited Family Connection Year-End Celebration was held on 30 November 2024 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel! Over 250 SMOU members and their families gathered in a celebration of family, friendship, and the year’s accomplishments.
SMOU members and their families arrived early eager to embrace the retro theme. Some came in retro theme with creative outfits inspired by the 60s, 70s, and 80s while some incorporated futuristic elements. Members were greeted with a range of interactive fringe activities like DIY bracelets, personalised luggage tags and everyone’s favourite, claw machine. All stations saw enthusiastic participation from both young and seniors who expressed their creativity and fun side of them whilst engaging in the activities.
Emcee Cheng’s warm welcome set the stage for an exciting evening. Attendees were treated to a sumptuous festive buffet spread and at the same time, were treated to a musical ensemble that added a delightful soundtrack to the evening, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.
As the evening progressed, the enthusiasm was palpable as families joined in the fun, competing in games that brought everyone together in a spirit of friendly rivalry. A highlight of the evening was the Best Dressed Family segment, each showcasing their creativity and commitment to the retro theme. Fun continued with a dazzling performance by Jimmy Juggler & children were invited on stage to participate in some light-hearted juggling activities.
All eyes were on the stage as the grand lucky draw prizes were up for grabs. The crowd eagerly awaited the announcement of the grand prize, a Nintendo Switch, which went to one lucky member, leaving the crowd buzzing with excitement.
The Family Connection was a testament to the power of family, unity, and the lasting bonds we share within the SMOU family. It was definitely a night filled with nostalgia, energy, and connection. We look forward to another year of creating memories and moments together.
