Remembering our Late Member – Capt. Ramaswamy Ramachandran

Capt. Ramaswamy Ramachandran, a longstanding SMOU member of 34 years, passed away at the age of 80.

Capt. Ramachandran began his seafaring journey with the Indian Merchant Navy, where he received his foundational training on the Dufferin Training Ship. His maritime career spanned nearly a decade at sea, rising through the ranks to become a Master Mariner and commanding vessels from 1974 to 1983.

In 1983, he came ashore and joined Pacific International Lines (PIL) in Singapore. He later served as Director of the PIL India office until his retirement in 2001.

Capt. Ramachandran’s lifelong dedication to the maritime industry and his years of service will be remembered by those who knew and worked alongside him.
