SMOU and the Singapore Organisation of Seamen signed a bilateral agreement with the Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI), also affiliated with the International Transport Workers’ Federation, on January 6. This agreement is in the spirit of seeing all unions cooperating for the benefit and welfare of seafarers and to provide mutual assistance to ensure that the rights of seafarers are well taken care of.

Bilateral relations were strengthened as all unions expressed their commitment to work closely for the betterment of our foreign seafaring members working onboard CBA-covered vessels. On top of that, social benefits will be extended to SMOU members. 

This marks a good start to a new year, as SMOU continues to maintain strong ties to keep our seafarers’ welfare a key priority in these challenging times.
