They made it! We’re referring to 218 SMOU members, who were honoured for their long years of membership with the union. On 18 November 2024, SMOU celebrated the resilience and dedication of our members at the Long Membership Awards Presentation 2024. The event saw the attendance of 132 members and their spouses. Awards were presented to those who had achieved 10 to 50 years of membership.
Among the long membership awardees, Brother Darren Teo, who is one of our younger members and a proud TMTA 8 graduate, was recognised for his dedication to continue in the seafaring legacy with passion and commitment. Brother Daryl Tan and Brother Samad Kamis were also acknowledged for their outstanding dedication to the Union, both receiving 45 years membership awards.
SMOU General Secretary, Sister Mary Liew, extended a warm welcome to all the members and friends for an evening of pride and recognition, celebrated over dinner at the Paradox Merchant Court.
During the presentations, members and guests were seen cheering one another. The revelry continued into the night with entertainment by Romito & Band.
