Young SMOU (YSMOU) wrapped up the year on a high note with a get together, held on 12 December 2023, at Sonic Bowl @ Our Tampines Hub. The session was filled with excitement and a vibrant atmosphere as youth members gathered for an evening of connecting and building relationships over dinner and a friendly bowling game.
After the networking dinner, the youths turned their attention to the bowling alley. It was time for some friendly match. As soon as the games began, the atmosphere of team spirit and camaraderie went on high gear. Team players were seen interacting and engaging in conversations. It didn’t matter if the players were seasoned bowlers or newbies. Everyone embraced the opportunity to strike their best bowl, under a supportive community.
At the end of the games, YSMOU Chairman Brother Dominic Yong recapped some of the YSMOU events that were held this year, and thanked the youth members for their contributions and support. With a heartfelt wish for a prosperous year ahead, Brother Dominic extended warm regards to those who had recently signed off, encouraging them to enjoy quality time with their loved ones. Additionally, he offered best wishes to those in the midst of examinations or preparing to join ship soon.
SMOU Vice President Sister Siti Nellisa and Assistant General Secretary Brother Mohd Farhan presented prizes to the top three teams with the highest scores. There were cheers all around, when the winners stepped up to claim their prizes.
The year end get together showcased the vibrant spirit of the youth members and highlighted the importance of fostering connections and building a supportive network among young seafarers in the maritime community. As the evening concluded, the youths left the gathering exuding a sense of unity and camaraderie that will extend far beyond the bowling alley and into future endeavours.
