Spreading the Lunar New Year Joy with Seafarers

Celebrations for Lunar New Year have kicked off and it is now officially the year of the Ox. To show our appreciation for seafarers who work tirelessly round the clock during the festive period, SMOU prepared gift bags for 15 vessels who called at the Singapore port to thank them for their hard work in delivering vital supplies around the world.

Joined by SMOU EXCO office bearers, gift bags were delivered to the entrance of the vessel’s gangway for the crew to pick up to ensure that safe distancing is in place.

SMOU Officials also visited the crew working at Bibby Renaissance, the Floatel where signed-on crew were being housed while they wait for their vessel to arrive. At the Floatel, the union caught up with the crew to show appreciation for their work done to ensure not only the safety and health of Singaporeans, but also those seafarers that are joining vessel in Singapore.

SMOU will like to thank the seafarers for their dedication and professionalism in keeping the shipping route going and keeping the goods delivered on schedule.

Last but not least, here’s wishing all seafarers around the world Happy Lunar New Year!
