Some 43 participants from across Asia participated in the recent CadetsPlus programme from 6 to 17 December 2021, offered by Wavelink Maritime Institute.

The CadetsPlus is a signature programme offered by WMI and essentially prepares seafaring cadets for work in an international working environment onboard Singapore-Flag Ships.

Participating from countries like India, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Myanmar, the cadets were able to break international borders and engage each other in a global classroom environment, through synchronous classroom delivery over the Zoom Platform.

The 2-Week programme was delivered by both Mr Muhammad Hisham Bin Amir and Mr Tan Kwang Keng, who passionately equipped the cadets with the necessary global maritime mindset as they took the cadets through a series of modules covering Communication & Active Conversation, Safety & Environmental Protection, and Legislative Requirements.

Additional training was also given to Cadets in the area of Soft Skills & Personal Development, as well as shipboard integration where they were offered an awareness into mental health and wellness whilst they embark on their initial deployments.

The cadets were appreciative of the opportunity offered by their employers like Maersk, MTM Shipmanagement, Pacific International Lines, Pacc Ship Managers Pte Ltd & Synergy Marine, to attend their first-ever CadetsPlus training and the opportunity to engage with cadets across Asia.
